I photographed these Pronghorn deer near Rapid City, SD sometime in the summer of 2003. Many call them Pronghorn Antelope, but they aren't an antelope at all. They are actually part of the deer family.
Please keep in mind that this Pronghorn Deer Background is copyrighted. You may use it free on your site if you'll give us a return link (instructions below and on the front page of Tarzanna Graphics).
Clicking on the very top link will take you to our front page where you can see many other wildlife and non-wildlife backgrounds.
You can make the page a lot easier to read by setting the text portion of it into a table. I didn't do that here so that you could see what it would look like without a table setting.
Send us the URL where you've used our Pronghorn Deer Background and we will happily put a link to it here so that others can see your work.
If you arrived here from a search engine or a direct link of another type, please feel free to browse the whole site by clicking on the link at the top of this page.
Here's some wonderful info from http://www.friendsofsaguaro.org/pronghorn.html about Pronghorns:
General Information:
This interesting mammal spends most of its time on the prairie. Pronghorns are true American natives, found nowhere else in the world. They have roamed the plains and deserts of North America for at least the last million years in substantially the same form. One can truly call this animal unique: he is the lone member of his family, Antilocapra americana, which literally means the "American goat-antelope". The pronghorn is not actually a true antelope at all.
You can find extremely detailed information on them and some great pictures, at the link above.
